YO! Book Fest arrives in Philadelphia as a free literary celebration for all ages
Philadelphia is preparing to welcome the inaugural Young People’s Book Festival (YO! Book Fest), a new literary event celebrating books, reading, and creativity. The festival will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Black Rock Middle School in Villanova, Pennsylvania.
Organized in partnership by Black Rock Middle School of the Lower Merion School District and Children’s Book World of Haverford, the event promises a full day of free, family-friendly activities designed to inspire readers of all ages.
A day of books and imagination
The festival will feature more than 50 children’s and young adult authors and illustrators, including several national award winners. Visitors can enjoy interactive sessions and panels with authors, writing and drawing workshops, a festive book character parade, cozy story times, as well as book signings, giveaways, and exclusive festival merchandise.
From toddlers to teens to adult book lovers, YO! Book Fest aims to create an inclusive space that fosters creativity and a passion for reading.
Free registration and lineup available
Attendance is free, and registration is now open at the festival’s official website: www.yobookfest.com, where the full lineup of participating authors and illustrators is also available.
An invitation to the community
Event organizers Rachel Nichols, librarian at Black Rock Middle School, and Heather Hebert, owner of Children’s Book World, highlighted the importance of the festival as a community celebration.
“We hope the first YO! Book Fest becomes the beginning of a tradition that honors reading and creativity in our region,” they said.
The festival invites families, schools, and book enthusiasts to take part in this free literary celebration that promises to become a new cultural milestone for Philadelphia.
