The necessity to stand up and defend our rights
My dear sisters and brothers, I am so proud of all those who continue to stand up to ICE, its agents, and our racist president.
The courage and organization of our communities are truly inspiring. While many have joined our efforts, we still need more individuals working alongside us. We must find ways to help more people recognize the abuse in this targeted, inhumane campaign led by Donald Trump.
Soap and fragrance donors
As many of you are aware, I utilize my Social Security check as my primary source of funds for my volunteer work.
Our two great supporters, Dr. Bronner’s and Lush, have been incredibly generous. We hope to travel to Tijuana soon to deliver the Bronner’s products.
We received a call confirming that Lush will be sending us two pallets of products to be delivered to my storage unit in Nogales. This shipment will weigh approximately 800 pounds. I’ll need to drive into Nogales and hire a local helper to unload these items.
Yaqui, the Belgian Malinois puppy
I recently adopted a young Belgian Malinois and named him Yaqui, after the land where we live. He’s three and a half months old—energetic, affectionate, and a wonderful companion. Because of his care, I need to get up often from my desk and stay active. We’ll soon begin his formal training.
Rain and climate change
Here in Magdalena, Mexico, we experienced three days of heavy rainfall. Across the United States, Mexico, and many other countries, we witnessed devastation. People lost their cars, homes, livelihoods—and even their lives.
The poor, lacking insurance, are hit hardest. Floods and droughts alike destroy dreams and futures. Yet many politicians still refuse to face the reality of climate change. But it is real, and it is killing people. Environmental rights must be protected.
The Epstein files
Hopefully, we will soon see what’s contained in these files—and the names of those involved. The election of Adelita Grijalva in Tucson (succeeding her father’s congressional seat) should give us the votes needed in Congress to demand their release.
Meanwhile, survivors continue to compile their own lists of those who were complicit.

It’s time to take a risk
Change never comes easily. Making change under difficult circumstances requires courage; it demands that we dream and do the impossible.
Every movement I’ve been a part of has been built by people willing to take risks and fight for truth and justice. Now, more than ever, we must challenge our friends and families to stand up. We cannot turn our backs in this time of hate.
